Shield. Glory. Lifter of my head.
Psalm 3:3 beautifully and rightfully says, “But you, O Lord , are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”.
As a shield, Daddy protects me in a plethora of ways. His shield even reveals dangers so that I can prepare to be attacked or divert from harm.
My glory. He makes me better, renewed, beautiful, gives me an attractive personality, and much more. I am who I am because of his work in me. His Spirit clothes me in righteousness and love.
My favourite parts says he is “the lifter of my head”. I wasn’t always as bold as I am. I used to be shy and fearful of making my voice/opinions be heard. Even now, I struggle some times with feeling unworthy. But when I remember that he is the one who lifts my head, gives me courage and strength, and increases my self-esteem, I can boldly do any task.
But you, O Lord , are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
