Why is she doing this?
Simple, I was reading the book of Esther. Specifically chapter 1. In that chapter, a mighty King Xerxes was having a great feast. He invited every prince, nobleman, and governor from 127 provinces. The bible says that the king, “…showed the riches of his royal glory and the splendor and pomp of his greatness for many days, 180 days.” Esther 1:4 ESV
180 days is basically 6 months. So for 6 months…180 days…the king boasted about his own glory in what he possessed and the quality and quantity of his possessions. And I thought, “Are you serious? He boasted about himself for so long?…🤔 What if we were to boast about God like that?”
There and then, I decided to boast about this awesome God whom I serve. As Travis Greene puts it, “He’s done so much for me, I cannot tell it all”. But I will tell what I can about this God, this good God.
What am I boasting about today? That my God is worth boasting about to all who wishes to read or listen. He has prevented me from dying as a baby; he has provided for my family when my father had cancer; he extended my father’s life by 3 years after the doctors gave him 3 weeks; he allowed me to receive one scholarship which covered my tuition for 2 years; he corrects me when I’m wrong and sets me on the right path; he has made me a better person; and best of all, he calls me his child and loves me unconditionally. I cannot help but boast about my God, Yahweh.
