Your Blessings Is Not Just For You!

You know what I love about the Bible? Even in the most unexpected stories, you can find a very relevant message for your life.

The following story is simply this: a couple of God’s chosen people were finally inheriting the Promised Land which God first told Abraham about in Genesis 12.  Bear in mind that the land was divided in twelve (12) parts.  Check this out, one set of people, the children of Judah, got their section of the divided land.  But evidently, they got more than they needed.  While another set of people, the children of Simeon, didn’t get nearly enough.  So the solution was for the children of Judah to share.

The inheritance of the children of Simeon was included in the share of the children of Judah, for the share of the children of Judah was too much for them. Therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of that people.  Joshua 19:9 NKJV

Basically, this verse is saying that when we are blessed in abundance, we must share in abundance.  What have you been blessed with in such a great way that it can be used to help others in need?  Are you brilliant in a school subject/course and can help others to understand a topic? Do you have an extra room that can be used to accommodate someone who is homeless or who is in a home that is overcrowded/abusive? Are you financially able to help someone with bus fare to school? Are you gifted in spiritual gifts, such as prophecy, teaching, administration, pastoring, in such a way that you can help guide someone who’s also gifted but untrained?

Your blessing is not just for you.  If it were, you would have received just enough.  If you have more than you need, use it to help someone else.
