Satan Is Under My Feet!!

Isn’t it just awesome that the things God established turns out to be symbolic, even in the secular world?  What am i talking about?

In Genesis 3:15, God told the serpent that He would put enmity between him (the serpent) and the woman, and between their offsprings.  God said to that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent, and the serpent would bruise his heel.

Furthermore, in Joshua is an interesting story of God’s people standing on their enemies, literally!!

So it was, when they brought out those kings to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the captains of the men of war who went with him, “Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” And they drew near and put their feet on their necks – Joshua 10:24 NKJV.

According to the Reformation Study Bible, placing the feet on the necks of persons is a “vivid, symbolic ritual of victory.   Defeated enemies are often said to be “under the feet” of the victor (1 Kings 5:3, Ps.  110:1, 1 Cor. 15:25), and Egyptian royal footstools depict the Pharaoh’s feet on his enemies’ necks”.

There is a song we sing in Jamaica, the lyrics are as follows:
I went to the enemy’s camp and I took back what he stole from me,
Took back what he stole from me, took back what he stole from me.
I went to the enemy’s camp and I took back what he stole from me.
He’s under my feet, he’s under my feet
Satan is under my feet.

The world uses the very symbol, standing on the neck of the enemy, to show who was victorious in a battle and in subduing their enemies.  If it is that significant to the world, how much more symbolic should it be to us a Christians?  We believe that Genesis 3:15 was prophesying of Jesus’ victory over the serpent.  On the cross, before he died, Jesus said that his work was finished (John 19:30).  Satan is defeated by Jesus.

We have the victory over sin and death.  We should always remember that we are already winners.  The battle has been rigged in our favour.  Therefore, let us have hope because no matter what happens, we are victorious!  Satan is under our feet!!
