Our focus today surrounds pleasing God. So what does it mean by that?

I am sure all of us will have a different theory of what it means to please God. It ranges from not doing certain things to living a particular life style.

But is it easy to please God?  Pleasing others is quite easy to do, but challenging when it comes on to pleasing God.

As humans we tend to want to do everything to let others have something good to say about us. As leaders, we are called, not only to be there for others, but to live a life that is pleasing to God.

God chose us for such a time as this, to lead such a generation like this.

To live a life that is pleasing to God we must have certain characteristics, as listed in Colossians; our lives must be bearing fruit, we must be growing in knowledge, be strengthened and most importantly giving thanks.

As Christians, if we are not bearing fruits, what sense does it make? If we are not spending time meditating on God’s work and growing in knowledge, what sense does it make?

To live a life that is pleasing to God we must press through all the hurdles and distractions the enemy throws at us. We must endure long suffering. This is one thing, we as Christians we don’t like to experience.  We must face adversities from those around us. And we must learn to surrender everything to God. How much are we willing to bare?

There is a song that says, ‘He was nailed to the cross, how much He was willing to bare. It was with anguish and lost He was nail to the cross and He carried our sins with Him there.’

Are we willing to drop our load, take up our cross follow Him, in order to please Him?

To please God we must:

  1. Have faith in God.

Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God…

  1. Be spiritually minded.

Romans 8:6-8, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

  1. Fear God

Psalm 111: 10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”

  1. Study and follow Jesus’ example.

Matthew 17:5, “While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”

  1. Obey God.

1 Samuel 15:22, “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

  1. Execute God’s will.

Hebrews 13:21, “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

  1. Give the sacrifice God wants.

Hebrews 13:15-16, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

Today, to please God, let us ask Him to really change our lives and our hearts so that we can please Him the real way.

We cannot please God if we are carnal minded and if we are living in the flesh. Therefore, let us as leaders seek to be spiritually minded and live in the Spirit, so that we can P.L.E.A.S.E. God in all we say and in all we do.

Pleasing God is not something easy to do, but it is possible, and the end result is simply wonderful.

Lord, we as leaders want to please You. We want our lives to reflect You in all we say and in all we do. Help us today and forward to drop and get rid of everything in our lives that is hindering us from truly pleasing You. Yes, we know it’s hard Lord but with the help of Your Holy Spirit we can pull through. Holy Spirit, I ask You today to continually be our Guide and Teacher throughout this Journey and keep us on the right track. Speak to us today, Lord, as we make ourselves available to lead your people. Help us to be on the watch and open up our spiritual eyes and ears. In Jesus’ name I ask these and other mercies. Amen.
